Fly an N-Reg Aircraft in the USA

To fly an N-reg aircraft in the USA, you will need a FAA license, which will be valid providing you already have a valid JAA medical and license. It can be obtained from an FAA Flight Safety Office for free, or from some FAA instructors for a fee.

However, your CAA/JAA licence has to be validated first. Complete the FAA form, and post with the UK CAA Licence Verification Authorisation for FAA Licence Validation form to:

or fax the form and documents to: 001 405 954 9922

The FAA will send a confirmation letter, which will be required when obtaining your FAA license. This could take up to 60 days. When you get to the USA, take the following documents to a flight standards district office:

Your licence
Your current medical certificate
The letter from FAA Oklahoma City
Another picture ID (passport is OK
